5th-Dec-2009 04:06 pm - Oh, the Crave
reading
I have been having the crave/ings this week. Seriously. Oh, man, I want and I have to have and I want it now now NOW crave.

I blame the weather, for woe, it has been the cool. Not necessarily, THE COLD, but colder and forget the walking for I don't like the FREEZE.

So, the weather, the cool, and the crave. Milkshake. I've wanted a milkshake earlier this week. Not necessarily any particular flavor, but a true ICE CREAM milkshake. And, by that, I mean one made not with that icy custard, soft serve pretend ice cream. I want a shake made with hand-dipped. The kind that when you take a sip, you get those creamy clumps on the roof of your mouth and you know you are being decadent. Not many place serve hand-dipped shakes. Maybe Hardee's if you're somewhere near a Hardee's.

I talked myself out of the milkshake.

I did this while devouring grapes.

Last night, I dreamt of baking a chocolate cake. Today, it has been chocolate cake I am craving. I want one so dark in color, it is almost black. Either chocolate or white icing. And, not a Bundt cake, which is what the grocery stores carry now, usually made with soda pop. I want a double layer, double-iced real chocolate cake. Okay, I'd settle for full-sized, FRESH cupcakes. And, I'd even bake it myself, if I had the box mix or the right ingredients. Alas, not.

I am trying to talk myself out of it with a light yogurt?

And, I have to confess, this week, I craved a book and there was no choice but to satisfy that craving.

Yes, decadent. The pleasure. From that book. MMMmmmm.

Last night, my husband called me a sissy.  Because.  My weekend walks weren't very far.

This morning, at sunrise, Buck and I went for a hour long walk.  Yes, we did.  When we were at the north central area of town, Buck and I heard cows bellowing from the hills west of town.  Yes, cows.  Or maybe monsters.

Oh, woe.

I talked Dale into cooking a pot of his beef vegetable soup.  (I helped lots.)

I tell everyone that I married Dale for his beef vegetable soup.  It is mostly true, being I loved him and the many elements of his physical and mental being very very much, cooking sealed the deal.

So, the first vegetable soup, which is much more like stew, of the year.  I am gaining one million zillion pounds this weekend.

Woe.

(And all the pounds weren't helped by the meal last night by Bikers with Heart; homemade chicken noodle soup, real mashed potatoes and someone made apple AND sugar cream pies for dessert.  Oh, I know, what was I thinking?  The answer is -- pause here, like a drum roll only different -- obviously, I was thinking with my stomach.)

Tomorrow morning, biscuits and sausage gravy.

I am so so bad.

According to my son, if your alternator is locked up, spray in about a can of this special break it loose lubricant and bang on the alternator over and over again with a soft metal hammer.

Something the person at the register in the grocery store should never do:  take a good long look at one of your purchases and, then, say, "That looks awful."  She should, also, not overcharge for three apples and, then, say, "Do you still want to purchase these?"

And, speaking of shopping, when you order a gift online and it isn't delivered, even though the UPS tracking says it was, it is absolutely wonderful when the merchant (ThingsRemembered) remakes your order and special delivers it to you.

24th-Dec-2008 08:53 am - Dancing
oooahhhh

I awoke at heavens-forbid o clock in the morning (I know, yes,  my sleep habits are all out of sync!) and I'm already behind for the day.  For those things I was going to do yesterday were cancelled due to ICE on the streets.  I couldn't even walk without the slippery-slide.  But I have music (not screaming songs either!), but dance music and I danced with my iPod in the kitchen as I fixed breakfast for the most senior and the most junior members of the family.  Now to awaken the girly-girl member of the family and head out for a day of hunting gathering.  I am so excited and happy.  Merry Eve everyone!

I'm a day ahead of everyone.  Because when I wake it is the third shift which is actually your tomorrow.  My way, today is my husband's mumblemumble birthday.  It is also our TWENTY-SIXTH anniversary.  Going prior to the official vows, we have been together for THIRTY years.  THIRTY YEARS!  Yay, us!!!1!!

When I was going through pictures to share last week, I came across a small number from the early years we were together.  Back when I was skinny with long hair, long arms, long legs.  My dear one's comment when he looked through them.  "You look so very young."

Maybe.  *gringrin*

I voted early this morning. After I dropped the kids off at school, and we were early enough that I missed the blockade for the front school entrance. Yay! If we're a few minutes later, I have to drop them off in the back, back where the teachers park.

So, there was one person in front of me, voting, when I walked in. I went down the line, showing my identification, signing two forms. I was the forty-ninth voter. I went into the voting booth which was a paneled table with the electronic voting machine. I viewed all the pages, made my selections, pressed the red buttons. When I left, one person had come into the room and one person was entering the building.

In celebration, I had pancakes and sausage from McDonald's which I ate with syrup, although I do not like syrup. It was a celebration so I had the syrup whether I wanted it or not.
